Deadline Extended!
Dear CPS Families, Colleagues, and Supporters, The deadline to run for a seat on your Local School Council (LSC) is now Wednesday, March 9 at 3 p.m. We’ve extended this deadline because we want as many parents, students, staff, and community members as possible to have the opportunity to make a true difference in their schools.
Why Run for Your LSC?LSCs can be game changers. They make critical decisions about resources and school leadership, but their influence goes further than those responsibilities. LSCs set the tone for what their school communities can be. They are teams of passionate, dedicated partners who know their schools well, and who work together to make sure children and educators have what they need to learn and thrive. It’s true that serving on an LSC is a commitment. It’s also one of the most rewarding volunteer experiences you can undertake to improve your community and public education. If you are considering taking this step, I urge you to check out what these current LSC members have to say about their experience. LSC candidates MUST submit their paperwork at the school where they plan to run by Wednesday, March 9 at 3 p.m. Election forms can be picked up at your school or accessed on the Local School Council Elections website.
Other Ways to Get Involved Not everyone is in a position to run for a seat on their LSC. But there are other ways to support our District’s upcoming LSC Elections:
- Become an Election Judge. LSC elections will be held at every CPS school, and we need judges to help facilitate that process. This is a paid position. Visit the LSC Elections website before March 9 for more information.
- Cast Your Vote. LSC Elections will be held on Wednesday, April 20 (elementary schools) and Thursday, April 21 (high schools). Please make sure to cast your vote on these days so that you can make your voices heard.
With all that our school communities have been through the past two years, they need passionate, supportive leaders who are ready to help guide them out of the pandemic and toward a bright and successful future. Please consider being this person for your school by running for a seat on the LSC.
